It would appear that summer is taking its sweet sweet time this year, but no matter, these still crisp yet sunny days give me a chance to get the garden into tip top shape for when the rays do hit.
Each year brings a new season of trends. Similarly to fashion, decor and food, gardening and landscape design are not immune to there changes. This year we had our entire backyard and pool area done so we basically get to start from scratch.
For the 2016/17 spring and summer season, my favourite combination for the garden are succulents and Azalea flowers. They’re simplistic but effective. The succulents allow for a minimalistic look, making it seem professional and clean cut. Meanwhile the Azalea flowers (which have become all the rage in recent times), have a vibrant and colourful tone to it as well as being exuberant and very lavish. Azalea’s also have an exciting personality. We have pots of gorgeous white Azalea’s blooming left, right and centre and throughout every 10 petals, about two have a ray of pink or purple in them.
This relaxed combo gives and rustic-like theme to the garden, while still allowing it to give colour and a lively feel to it.
